Senior Engineer
Primary Purpose of the Role
Produce and review signalling design in accordance with
company and international standards.
Principal
relationships
Reports to Senior Engineer Team Lead, book wiring,
mechanical design, LVAC, document control
Key Tasks
Lead in the production of signalling design drawings as
instructed and in accordance with own knowledge and
experience. To ensure the safety and quality standards
of designs. To act as an independent verifier of the
work of othersˇ Provide resource estimates to the
Application Design Manager Anticipate, highlight and
escalate critical issues.ˇ Coordinate with other
functions in the company on signalling design issuesˇ
Liaise and communicate with stakeholders both external
and internalˇ Integrate with other functions within a
project to resolve signalling issues.ˇ Take pragmatic
approach to problem solving.ˇ Keep abreast of technical
development in the railway signalling design field both
within and outside of the companyˇ Comply with any
requirements laid out in a project role description
Technical and
Professional Skills
-
Appropriate technical
qualification or equivalent
-
In possession of an
IRSE Principles Designer License 1.1.150D (or
1.1.130)
-
In possession of an
IRSE Design Verifier License 1.1.160
-
At least 5 years
technical/project experience in signalling design
-
Registration with the
IRSE, ideally to member level
-
Extensive knowledge
of LU standards
-
Current Knowledge of
signalling design processes
-
Good technical
writing skills and good interpersonal communication
skills

Behaviours
The post holder should
have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to
communicate at all levels in the spoken and written
word. A good outward appearance, self-motivation and the
ability to work under pressure are vital.
