Principle Design Engineer

Salary and Location

A salary which is negotiable dependent upon experience is on offer for the role based in Stratford-Upon-Avon. An opportunity has arisen for a Principal Design Engineer to work within a buoyant rail infrastructure company and become involved within a variety of signalling projects on the UK infrastructure network.

Role Description

The Signalling Design Engineer will be required to check Signalling Design details broadly in the form of Scheme / Signalling plans, Control Tables, location diagrams, cable core plans, power schematics and interlocking wiring produced under his / her control ensuring adherence to all company and client Standards. Produce signalling designs, specifications, reports and working drawings to meet contract requirements. Ensure that all tasks are carried out within specific timescales and performance parameters. Liaise with senior members of staff and other colleagues to ensure that all tasks are carried out within a professional manner at all times.

You will be responsible for co-coordinating the work of others within the Signalling Design function and you will also be required to make recommendations when assessing the workload and career planning and development of other Signalling Design group members.

Required Experience

For this role you will be required to:

  • Have an IRSE Design Licence 1.1.150c

  • Engineering Qualification be it HNC / HND or Degree with experience in a full time design position

  • Must hold signalling scheme designer licence 1.1.150A

  • Signalling principals designer licence 1.1.150D

  • Signalling design verifier licence 1.1.160

  • Have knowledge of railway standards and regulations

  • Be educated to HNC levels as a minimum

  • Have a good understanding of design processes and the relevant technical experience
